Stojan Matavulj (born 24 February 1961) is a Croatian actor and comedian. Matavulj is perhaps best known for his lead role as foul-mouthed inspector Zdravko Maček in the controversial comedy series Zakon! (2009).[1] He has appeared in critical and box-office hits, including The Seventh Chronicle (1996), What Is a Man Without a Moustache? (2005), Play Me a Love Song (2007), The Priest's Children (2013) and Lavina (2017). He also starred in the soap opera Ruža vjetrova (2011-2013) as Stipe Odak.
After graduating from the Academy of Dramatic Art in Zagreb, from 1986 to 1988 he was a member of the Drama Ensemble of the Croatian National Theatre in Split.[2] He then became an actor in the National Theatre in Varaždin, where he remains employed to this day.[3] He has also performed in Zagreb Theatres, including Teatar ITD, Gavella and Žar ptica. He was nominated for seven Croatian Theatre Awards, winning once.[4][5][6]
He provides the voice of James P. Sullivan in the Croatian-language version of Monsters Inc. franchise (2001-2020) and General Aguila in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (2007).[7][8] He is also the official voice for General Hardcastle in Croatian Superman media and Rupert Thorne in Croatian Batman media, respectively.[9]
