Zane Maloney (born 2 October 2003) is a Barbadian racing driver and 2019 British F4 champion.

Career

Karting

Maloney started racing in North America at the age of 12, he soon moved over to Europe to compete for RFM. Maloney placed 4th in the OK European Championship, 5th in the World Championships and 3rd in the German Championship and WSK Champions Cup respectively. Maloney is a multiple time karting champion in Barbados and America.[1]

Lower formulae

Maloney's first single seater season was in 2019 in the British F4 championship for Carlin Motorsport. Maloney won 10 races and ended up on the podium 15 times, he became the first driver since Jamie Caroline to win all three races in a single weekend, at Oulton Park. Maloney won the championship by 20 points over Mexican Sebastián Álvarez. He became the first Barbadian racing driver to win a championship in Europe, and the first rookie in history to win the championship outright.[2]

Euroformula Open Championship

In January 2020, Maloney reunited with Carlin to contest the 2020 season.[3] He scored his debut podium in the second race of the season at the Hungaroring, having finished 4th the day before.

Personal life

Maloney's uncle owns the Bushy Park Circuit in Barbados.[4]

Race 2 at Croft Circuit was stopped after two laps due to worsening weather conditions. The results were initially declared void, with the intention of running a fourth race at a later event. However, it was confirmed on 22 July that the original results would stand, with half points being awarded.[5]
