East Lothian Council is one of the 32 local government councils in Scotland covering the East Lothian area.
The council is based at John Muir House, Haddington. Twenty two councillors are elected across 6 wards.

History
East Lothian District Council had been created in 1975 under the Local Government (Scotland) Act 1973. It became one of the newly created single tier local authorities in 1996, under the Local Government etc. (Scotland) Act 1994,[1]
