WalkMe owned by WalkMe Inc. is a software-as-a-service (SaaS) company that helps users navigate the features of other web-based services.[2][3][4]
Background
WalkMe is a Digital Adoption Platform (DAP) that works by overlaying information in "tip-balloons"[5] in the browser window.[6] These balloons break down online processes into step-by-step instructions.[7] According to the company, "The DAP collects data on users' behaviors and action patterns on platforms."[8] This helps users complete online tasks without leaving the screen to watch video tutorials or read manuals or FAQ pages.[9] It also allows users to automatically get specific guidance according to their preference and language.[10]
History
WalkMe Inc. was founded in 2011 by Dan Adika, Raphael Sweary, Eyal Cohen and Yuval Shalom Ozanna. In April 2012 they launched the product WalkMe.[10] Their headquarters are in San Francisco, California.[3][11]
In January 2017, WalkMe acquired Abbi, a startup which specializes in mobile A/B testing and app engagement. WalkMe retired the Abbi brand and integrated its services into WalkMe’s platform. In the process, it also migrated Abbi’s existing customers.[12] In April of that year, WalkMe acquired Jaco.[13]
