The North American Association for Environmental Education (NAAEE) is a US-based nonprofit organization. [4]

The organization was founded in 1971 in the U.S. as the National Association for Environmental Education[5] but now includes members from over 30 countries.[5][6]

NAAEE and its 56 affiliate organizations[7] in the US, Canada, Mexico have over 20,000 members;[6] additional affiliates exist outside North America in Asia and Oceania.[8] These partners, many of whom operate at a state or provincial level, have their own conferences, publications, or other activities.[9][10][11][12]

NAAEE holds its own annual conference,[13] supports teacher training in environmental education,[14] supports research demonstrating the impact of environmental education,[15] and produces a wide variety of publications, including Guidelines for Excellence[16][17] in environmental education.[18]

The Natural Start Alliance,[19] a project of NAAEE, works to connect young children with nature.[20]
