Caitlin Cronenberg (born October 27, 1984) is a Canadian photographer and director, known for her celebrity portraits and editorials.[1][2]
Early life
Cronenberg was born in Toronto, Ontario, the daughter of director David Cronenberg and documentary filmmaker Carolyn Zeifman, and is the sister of director Brandon Cronenberg.[3] She received a degree in fashion design at Ryerson University before beginning her career as a photographer.[4]
Work
Her work has appeared in magazines and newspapers around the world, including the covers of W,[5][6] L'Uomo Vogue[7][8][9] and Variety.[10] She is best known for shooting the cover and booklet for Drake's Views[11][12] which became an overnight viral sensation.[13][14][15] In addition to still photography, Cronenberg has directed several music videos, including "I Got You" by Hollerado[16] and "On Camera" by Hill.[17] In 2017 Cronenberg was hired by Apple Inc to shoot portraits of Canadians across the country for the first ever "Shot on iPhone" campaign created specifically for Canada.[18] That same year, Cronenberg photographed the Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau for the cover of Delta Sky Magazine.[19]
She was the 2017 recipient of the Canadian Arts and Fashion Awards (CAFA) for "Image Maker of the Year".[20]
In 2010, Cronenberg self-published a book of nude portraits called POSER.[21][22] Her second book, The Endings, released in 2018.[23][24]
