In Search of the Miraculous: Fragments of an Unknown Teaching is a 1949 book by Russian philosopher P. D. Ouspensky which recounts his meeting and subsequent association with George Gurdjieff. It is widely regarded [according to whom?] as the most comprehensive account of Gurdjieff's system of thought ever published.[citation needed] It is regarded as "fundamental textbook" by many modern followers of Gurdjieff's teachings [who?], who often use it as a means of introducing new students to Gurdjieff's system of self-development.[citation needed]
