Radisson Blu Hotel Hamburg is a 4-star superior hotel in Hamburg, Germany. It is operated by Radisson Hotels under the Radisson Blu brand. At 108 meters height, it is the tallest hotel in Hamburg and the second tallest building in the city. It has 32 floors and 556 rooms. The hotel is surrounded by the park Planten un Blomen and situated directly next to the Congress Center Hamburg (CCH). Hamburg Dammtor station is also located nearby.
History
The hotel was designed by architects Jost Schramm and Gert Pempelfort, and built between 1970 and 1973. It opened in April 1973 as Loews Hamburg Plaza. Later it became just the Hamburg Plaza Hotel, when it was managed by Canadian Pacific Hotels. In 1988 it was bought by the SAS Group and renamed the SAS Hamburg Plaza Hotel. When SAS Group's SAS International Hotels created a co-brand with Radisson Hotels, it became the Radisson SAS Hamburg Hotel. From October 2008 to 24 September 2009 there was a renovation of the hotel and its façade at a cost of 48 million euros.[1] In November 2009 the investment management company Invesco Ltd. bought the tower for 155 million euros. When SAS ended their relationship with Rezidor Hotel Group (former SAS International Hotels) in 2007, the hotel was renamed the Radisson Blu Hotel Hamburg in 2009.
Facilities
With direct access to the Congress Center Hamburg (CCH), the Radisson Blu Hotel Hamburg also has a 2,122 m² conference area with 12 conference- and boardrooms on a separate floor.[2] This is assumed to be one of the biggest meeting and event locations throughout all of Hamburg's hotels.
