The 1948 Detroit Lions season was the team's 19th overall season in the league. The team failed to improve on their previous season's output of 3–9, winning only two games.[1] They failed to qualify for the playoffs for the 13th consecutive season. One notable aspect of this season was their use of scarlet red and black uniforms instead of the traditional Honolulu blue and silver, due to head coach Bo McMillin, obviously influenced by his years as coach at Indiana. They would return to Honolulu blue and silver the following season.[2]
