Marin Aničić (Serbo-Croatian pronunciation: [mǎriːn ǎnitʃitɕ]; born 17 August 1989) is a Bosnian professional footballer who plays as a centre back for Süper Lig club Konyaspor and the Bosnia and Herzegovina national team.

Aničić started his professional career at Zrinjski Mostar, before joining Astana in 2014. Five years later, he moved to Konyaspor.

A former youth international for Bosnia and Herzegovina, Aničić made his senior international debut in 2016.

Early career

Aničić came through youth academy of his hometown club Zrinjski Mostar.[1] He made his professional debut against Slavija on 28 November 2007 at the age of 18.[2] On 2 April 2008, he scored his first professional goal against Orašje.[3]

In February 2014, Aničić was transferred to Kazakh side Astana for an undisclosed fee.[4] He made his competitive debut for the team against Zhetysu on 15 March.[5] Aničić won his first trophy with Astana on 9 November 2014, when they were crowned league champions for the first time in their history.[6]

Aničić helped the team make their first historical UEFA Champions League appearance in 2015–16 season.[7] On 15 September 2015, he debuted in competition away at Benfica.[8] He scored his first goal in the tournament against same opponent two months later, which was his first goal for the club.[9]

On 20 March 2016, he scored his first league goal in a triumph over Ordabasy.[10]

In August 2016, he extended his contract until June 2019.[11]

On 2 October 2016, Aničić played his 100th game for Astana.[12]

Konyaspor

On 2 August 2019, Aničić joined Turkish outfit Konyaspor on a two-year deal.[13] He made his official debut for the club in a goalless draw against Ankaragücü on 18 August.[14] On 25 July 2020, he scored his first goal for Konyaspor against Alanyaspor.[15]

International career

In August 2015, he received his first senior call-up, for UEFA Euro 2016 qualifiers against Belgium and Andorra,[17] but had to wait until 25 March 2016 to make his debut in a friendly game against Luxembourg.[18]
