Daniel Cardoso (born 6 October 1989) is a South African football player who plays as a defender for Kaizer Chiefs in the Premier Soccer League.[1]

Early life

Cardoso was born in Johannesburg. His father grew up in Portugal. His father is Portuguese and his mother is South African. He has been to Portugal and once he went for trials there when he was younger.[2] Cardoso aspired to be a veterinarian. Cardoso dropped out of school in 2003 to play for Yebo Yes United in the Vodacom League earning R100,000 a month.[3]

Club career

Cardoso made his professional debut on 11 August 2012 in a 2–0 win over Bidvest Wits at Goble Park Stadium.[4] Cardoso was made vice-captain in 2014. In July 2014, Cardoso suffered a shin injury which ruled him out for five months.[5] Cardoso joined Kaizer Chiefs on 31 May 2015.[6]

International career

Cardoso made his international debut in a 3–1 win over Swaziland on 25 March 2015.[7]
