Parveen Kaur (born 19 October 1988) is a Canadian actress, known for playing Christine in Beyond and scientist Saanvi in NBC's Manifest.
Early life
Kaur was born on 17 October 1988 and raised in Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, Canada. At the age of 18, she moved to Toronto.[1][2] To keep in shape, Kaur exercises with yoga and hot yoga, and practices Mindfulness.[2]
Career
Kaur only decided to pursue an acting career in her 20s after leaving high school early.[3] Kaur’s first recurring role came in Guillermo Del Toro’s horror drama series The Strain[1] in 2018, Kaur starred in the movie Through Black Spruce [4] which premiered at the 2018 Toronto International Film Festival.[5] Kaur starred as Saanvi for 29 episodes of NBC’s Manifest between 2018 and 2020.[6][1]
Personal life
Kaur enjoys playing Saanvi in NBC’s Manifest, however, she is a great believer in true diversity and hopes to play a variety of characters with humanity and conviction, not just South Asian women roles, typecast as doctors or intellectuals; as in the short film, Worst Part, where she played a graphic designer with pink and rainbow coloured hair.[6] Kaur is also enthusiastic about fashion, skincare and beauty and would otherwise have chosen that career path if she hadn't been an actor.[4][7]
Awards
Kaur received the 2017 MISAFF Star presented by ACTRA at the 6th annual Mosaic International South Asian Film Festival in Mississauga, Ontario.[8]
