Jay Mya (born Jonathan Yerrell, 18 October 1985 in Rotherham, South Yorkshire, England), also known as Jonny Yerrell, is a British singer / songwriter. His genre of music varies from R&B, pop, grime and hip hop. In February 2015 Jay became the frontman of the South Yorkshire band Kid 85.[1] The band had a viral hit in 2015 with their controversial debut track "X78"[2] a track that shows a love/hate relationship to their hometowns of Rotherham, Doncaster & Sheffield. The track has been downloaded and shared across social media sites numerous times. Racking up thousands of views per platform.
He charted at number 15 in the UK Indie Charts in August 2011 with his single "Chasing Rainbows"[3] released through his own independent record label Drunken Boy Records.[4]
