Street Ashton is a hamlet in the Borough of Rugby, Warwickshire, England. It is located near the towns of Rugby and Lutterworth. Street Ashton House dominates the hamlet - formerly a dower house for the Earls of Denbigh, the house is now occupied by the Mater Ecclesiae Convent. The hamlet is also located near the villages of Monks Kirby and Pailton. The hamlet is also on the historical Fosse Way road.
The hamlet's name is Anglo-Saxon deriving from the personal name "Strudheard" or "Strodo" + "ton" (settlement). "Strudheard's ton" was later rephrased to Street Ashton, almost certainly because of the proximity of the Fosse Way and nearby Stretton-under-Fosse.[1]
The hamlet is served by buses which connect it to Coventry, Hinckley, Rugby and Hillmorton. The nearest active railway station is Rugby.
