The 1989 South Carolina Gamecocks football team represented the University of South Carolina as an independent team in the 1989 NCAA Division I-A football season finishing with a 6–4–1 record. The Gamecocks were led by Sparky Woods in his first year as head coach following the death of former head coach Joe Morrison. Morrison died of a heart attack in February 1989.
