IDE Technologies is an Israeli water desalination company.[1]

History

The company was founded in 1965[2] by Ukrainian-born engineer Alexander Zarchin.[3] It is headquartered in the Hasharon Industrial Park in Kadima, Israel.[1] Its Chairman is Asaf Bartfeld,[2] while its Chief Executive Officer and President is Avshalom Felber.[1]

In Israel, it has built desalination plants in Hadera, Ashkelon and Soreq.[4][5]

In 2013, it agreed to design the Carlsbad desalination plant in Carlsbad, California.[6] It was expected to be completed by 2016,[7] however, due to the continuing drought in California, plant completion was advanced to late 2015, and was eventually finished in December, 2015.[8] Other projects under construction include plants in India,[9] Chile, Venezuela and Mexico.[10]

Ownership

It is co-owned by Alfa Partners and Delek,[11] as Delek acquired 50% of the company in 2002.[10] By 2014, both entities agreed to sell IDE Technologies to a foreign investor to obviate the Arab League boycott of Israel.[10]
