Akyem Abuakwa
Akyem Abuakwa describes a Akyem an Akan people traditional geo-political entity in the Eastern part of the Ashantiland Peninsula
Akyen Abuakwa is one of the three independent states along with Akyem Bosome and Akyem Kotoku that forms the Akyem Mansa. This nation state with a non-contiguous land mass exists in the Eastern and Ashanti region on the Ashantiland Peninsula.
By the start of the 19th-century it had been subjected to the Ashanti Empire. In 1811 there was a rebellion here against the Ashanti overlords, in which 100 Ashanti officials in the area were killed.[1]
