Amer Iqbal, Ph.D., is a Pakistani theoretical physicist. He is primarily known for his work in string theory and mathematical physics.

Biography

He is the associate professor of Physics at the School of Science and Engineering at the Lahore University of Management Sciences.[1]

Iqbal has a M.Sc. in Mathematics from Quaid-i-Azam University Islamabad and Doctorate in Theoretical physics from MIT (Massachusetts Institute of Technology). He carried out his doctoral research under the supervision of string theorist professor Barton Zwiebach. He was a postdoctoral fellow at the University of Texas at Austin and, later, at Harvard University. Before joining LUMS he was Assistant Professor of Mathematics at the University of Washington, Seattle.

He was awarded the Abdus Salam Award for physics for his work on superstring theory and its relationship with supersymmetry and gauge theories. [2]
