In the ranking rounds each archer shoots 72 arrows, and is seeded according to score. In the knock-out stages each archer shoots three arrows per set against an opponant, with scores aggregated. Matches are won by highest aggregate score. Losing semifinalists compete in a bronze medal match.[2]

In the Women's individual compound W1 discipline, the two lowest ranked archers after the ranking round will play each other in a preliminary knockout match, before joining the remaining seven archers in the quarter final round.
