On June 1, 2021, Ugandan Minister of Works and Transport, Katumba Wamala, was shot and wounded in Kampala.

Assassination attempt

Four individuals on motorcycles opened fire on the army vehicle in which Wamala was traveling in Kampala. Wamala’s daughter, Brenda Wamala, and his driver, Haruna Kayondo, were killed.[1][2] Wamala received injuries to both shoulders.[3]

Reactions

Ugandan President, Yoweri Museveni, condemned the attack, describing it was the work of "pigs who do not value life".[4]
