"Bad, Bad Whiskey" is a 1950 song by Amos Milburn. The song was initially a Maxwell Davis instrumental titled "Bristol Drive" which Milburn adapted by blending in some alcohol based lyrics.[1] The single was the last time Milburn reached the number one position on the US Billboard R&B chart.[2] It was featured in the "Spring Cleaning" episode (episode 50) of Bob Dylan's Theme Time Radio Hour series.[3]
"Bad, Bad Whiskey" became one of the most enduring "blues-in-a-bottle" songs.[4] The song has been covered many times, most recently by Colin James in 2016 on his Blue Highways album.[5]
