Ballerina is an upcoming 2016 English-language French-Canadian 3D computer-animated musical fantasy adventure film co-directed by Eric Summer and Éric Warin. The screenplay is written by Summer, Carol Noble and Laurent Zeitoun.[2] The film stars the voices of Elle Fanning, Dane DeHaan, Maddie Ziegler, and Carly Rae Jepsen.

Synopsis

Set in 1879, Félicie, a poor orphan girl who dreams of becoming a ballerina, but lacks any formal training, leaves rural Brittany and goes to Paris, where she assumes the identity of a spoiled girl and becomes a dance student at the Paris Opera. She finds her training, and making friends at the ballet school among her ruthless fellow-students, to be very difficult. The mysterious caretaker at the Paris Opera, Odette, and a young inventor, Victor, help her to face the challenges. She follows her passion and works hard to turn her dreams into reality.[2][3]

Voice Cast

Production

The filmmakers used motion capture with Aurélie Dupont and Jérémie Bélingard, two star dancers of the Paris Opera, to translate a realistic dance to the animated film.[4]
