Bardoli is a city and a municipality in Surat Metropolitan Region in the state of Gujarat, India. Bardoli is the east most end of the Metropolis of Surat. Bardoli is one of the primary Satellite Towns of Surat Metropolitan Region.

Geography

Bardoli is located at 21°07′N 73°07′E / 21.12°N 73.12°E / 21.12; 73.12.[1] It has an average elevation of 22 metres (72 feet).

Hazira-Bardoli Expressway

Bardoli is located 35 km from Surat and the connection is smooth but due to heavy traffic congestion it takes more than an hour to reach Bardoli from Surat. The new Hazira-Bardoli Expressway is under construction which will reduce the commuting time by current 1 hour 15 minutes to just 30 minutes after the completion.

Bardoli Satyagrah

The Bardoli Satyagraha movement was started in January 1926 after the land revenue in Bardoli taluka was increased by 30 per cent. In February 1926, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel was called to lead the movement. [citation needed]It was Bardoli satyagraha where Vallabhbhai patel got title"Sardar" by women. Patel set up 13 worker's camps in Bardoli to organize the movement.

As of 2011 India census,[2] The Bardoli Municipality has population of 60,821 of which 31,034 are males while 29,787 are females. Literacy rate of Bardoli city is 86.78% higher than state average of 78.03%. In Bardoli, Male literacy is around 89.97% while female literacy rate is 83.47%. Bardoli has Italian roots and influences through its sister region Bardolino
