Rebecca "Becky" Albertalli (born November 12, 1982[1]) is an award-winning, New York Times Best Selling[2] American author of young adult fiction.
She is well known for her debut novel Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda, which earned her the American Library Association's William C. Morris Award as 2015's best debut novel written for teens[3][4] and the German Youth Literature Prize 2017. The novel was adapted for film in 2018 as Love, Simon. Her other works include The Upside of Unrequited, Leah on the Offbeat, and the upcoming What If It's Us (co-written with Adam Silvera).
Albertalli cites Australian author Jaclyn Moriarty as her primary inspiration in becoming a novelist.[5]

Personal life
Born and raised in the Atlanta metropolitan area, with her sister Caroline, Albertalli lives there with her husband, Brian, and sons, Owen and Henry.[8] Albertalli attended college in Connecticut, and majored in psychology, before moving to Washington, D.C. and gaining a doctorate in clinical psychology.[9] She worked as a psychologist until 2012—when her first son was born—and subsequently decided to try writing a novel.[10]
Albertalli was raised in a Reform Jewish household.[11]
