Black Walk is a production company located in Whitby, Ontario. They have a wide range of feature length films and television series with some of hollywoods big hitters.

History

Black Walk made its mark on the industry in the 1990’s producing over 500 music videos including hits from numerous US and Canadian A-list talent such as, Alanis Morrisette, Hootie and the Blowfish and Nickelback. After a decade of leading the industry and winning more Much Music Video Awards than all of its competitors, CEO Mihkel Harilaid decided to take the company into a new direction and changed his focus to independent film production. Ten years later, the company continues to grow within the film industry under the creative direction of both Mihkel Harilaid and business partner Brigitte Kingsley who became president of Black Walk in 2007.[1]

Black Walk’s first film credits include the 2005 Toronto International Film Festival Favorite and Independent Spirit Award Winner Phil the Alien starring Rob Stefaniuk and Oscar nominated Graham Green, the 2004 feature film Ham & Cheese starring Dave Foley, Jason Jones and Samantha Bee directed by Warren Sonoda and the 2007 sexy sci-fi-comedy Dark Rising starring wrestling superstar Jay “Christian” Reso, directed by Andrew Cymek and nominated for 6 Canadian Comedy Awards.[1]

Current and Future Projects

Slated for 2010 are three new releases including their largest in-house production to date Medium Raw: Night of the Wolf, an action-thriller starring John-Rhys Davies (Lord of the Rings), William B. Davis (X-Files), Mercedes McNab (Buffy / Angel), and WWE stars Jay “Christian” Reso and the late Andrew "Test" Martin. [3]

Also expect to see the expansion of their Dark Rising Brand. Dark Rising 2: Summer Strikes Back! and the accompanying Super Channel original television series Dark Rising: The Savage Tales of Summer Vale were shot last winter in Northern Ontario and are scheduled for a fall release. Black Walk will be shooting another 39 episodes of a television series based on the Dark Rising Brand titled "Dark Summer" in June 2011.[3]
