Bobota Canal
Bobota, Croatia

The Bobota Canal (Croatian: Bobotski kanal) is a canal in Croatia. The canal is of paramount importance within the system for irrigation and flood protection for settlements in the surrounding area and because of that is ranked in the channels of the first category in Croatia.[1] Every year it is enriched with about 1500 kg of high quality fish.[2]

Route

The canal runs some 30 kilometres (19 mi) from west to east.

History

The canal was built to defend against harmful effects of excess water at area which is very low and flat.[3] In 2003 The World Bank has funded additional works on chanal.[4]
