Brooke Mackenzie Henderson (born 10 September 1997) is a Canadian professional golfer.

Henderson was born in Smiths Falls, Ontario. She won the Canadian Women's Amateur in 2013 and finished runner-up at the 2014 U.S. Women's Amateur. While still an amateur, she won three events on the CN Canadian Women's Tour[1] and finished tied for 10th place in the 2014 U.S. Women's Open at the age of 16. She won numerous amateur tournaments[2] and was the top-ranked woman amateur golfer in the world before turning professional in December 2014.[3][4]

For 2015, Henderson was named both the Canadian and Ontario female athlete of the year.[5][6]

Development and sponsorships

Since 2012, Henderson has been in training with Golf Canada's amateur and young professional development programs called "Team Canada".[2]

Upon turning professional, Henderson was signed to several corporate sponsorships:

Career

Henderson set a tournament record with her score at the halfway mark of the LPGA Tour's Swinging Skirts LPGA Classic on 25 April 2015. Henderson recorded a 7-under-par 65 on the Lake Merced Golf Club's course in suburban San Francisco, giving her a second-round total of 135, breaking the record set by Stacy Lewis in 2014 by three shots.[13] Henderson eventually finished third in the tournament, one stroke behind Lydia Ko, the playoff winner, and Morgan Pressel.[14]

Henderson had to play her way through Monday qualifiers and sponsor exemptions after the Tour denied her request to play at the 2015 LPGA Tour Q School.[7] She was given a Symetra Tour card after winning her first event as a professional, the Four Winds Invitational.[15]

In August 2015 after having to Monday qualify for the Cambia Portland Classic on the LPGA Tour, Henderson won the event by 8 shots, the largest margin of victory since 2012, becoming the third youngest winner on the tour.[16] Henderson was only the second Monday qualifier to win on Tour[16] and the first since Laurel Kean in 2000.[17] She was also the first Canadian to win on the LPGA Tour since Lorie Kane in 2001.[16][17]

On August 18, 2015, Henderson was granted membership on the LPGA Tour beginning immediately.[18]
