The only known species is Canadanthus modestus, native to northern North America (Alaska, Yukon, British Columbia, Alberta, Manitoba, Saskatchewan, New Brunswick, Quebec, Ontario, Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Montana, North and South Dakota, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Michigan).[1][3]

Canadanthus modestus is an herbaceous perennial spreading by means of underground rhizomes, thus producing large colonies. It has several flower heads, each with pink or purple ray florets and white or yellow disc florets.[4]
