Carol Stone (actress)
Carol Montgomery Stone (February 1, 1915 – June 10, 2011) was an actress who played "Big Nose Kate", or Kate Holliday, the common law wife of Doc Holliday, in ten episodes in the 1957-1958 season of the ABC/Desilu western television series, The Life and Legend of Wyatt Earp.[1]
Biography
Stone was the daughter of actor Fred Stone.[1] Her mother was actress Allene Crater; her sisters, Dorothy Stone and Paula Stone. The author Rex Beach is her uncle.[2] Her middle name came from her father's long time comedy partner, David C. Montgomery. In 1940, she married Robert W. McCahon, son of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas J. McCahon of Brookline, Massachusetts. They divorced in 1950 and had no children.[3]
In the episode "Wyatt Meets Doc Holliday" (April 23, 1957), Stone is first cast as "Kate Holliday", or "Big Kate". She is depicted as Holliday's estranged overbearing wife "Kate Holliday," who take an interest in the rehabilitation of his health though he seems oblivious to her existence. Douglas Fowley played the role of Holliday, with Hugh O'Brian in the title role of deputy marshal Wyatt Earp.[4]
She died on June 10, 2011.
