This category contains images which have an unknown US status.

  • If the image was produced by the Canadian Government, or an agency thereof and was first published before December 31, 1973, then replace the {{PD-Canada}} tag with {{PD-Canada-Crown}}.({ According to Public Works and Government Services Canada / Travaux publics et Services gouvernementaux Canada, Canada has no intention of renewing expired Crown Copyright works in any country, and consequently the URAA does not apply. An email is on record at OTRS ticket # 2013122310013986.)
  • If the image is sufficiently old, that its creators died before 1924, consider replacing the {{PD-Canada}} tag with {{PD-old-100}}.
  • If an image here was published before 1923, then the {{PD-Canada}} copyright tag should be amended to read {{PD-Canada|commons}}, and {{PD-1923}} should be added.
  • If an image here satisfies the conditions in {{PD-US-unpublished}}, then the {{PD-Canada}} copyright tag should be amended to read {{PD-Canada|commons}}, and {{PD-US-unpublished}} should be added.
  • If an image here was NOT in the PD in Canada as of the URAA date (1 January 1996), and doesn't satisfy {{PD-1923}} or {{PD-US-unpublished}}, then the US copyright has been restored and the image should be amended to read {{PD-Canada|restored}}, an appropriate non-free license tag and non-free use rationale should also be provided.
  • If an image here WAS in the PD in Canada as of the URAA date, (see above) then the image license tag should be amened to read {{PD-Canada|commons}}. {{PD-URAA}} also can be added, but please be aware of subsisting copyrights.
