Page move[edit]

...as per the move of bannered highways to auxiliary route. --Triadian (talk) 21:24, 12 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

After further study, I found that the correct term for this category is "Business Interstate Highways". I am proposing to move it to this name for multiple reasons.
  1. "Bannered highway" is a term that has been criticized for being a neologism, which are very discouraged on Wikipedia.
  2. There is no such thing as a "bannered Interstate highway". The term "banner" is referring to the sign placed above a U.S. route shield or state route shield saying "BUSINESS" or "SPUR", etc. There are no such banners for Interstates. Instead, the shield is green and the word "Business" is placed on the shield, not on a banner. Thus, "bannered Interstate highways" don't exist.
  3. All of the articles in this category (that truly belong) are Business Interstates (either spurs or loops), differentiated from Three-Digit Interstates.
I believe this speaks for itself. --Triadian (talk) 01:43, 14 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
