current or former

[edit]

Is this effectively category:Counselors to Donald Trump? Where do we put these guys when they are no longer counselors to current pres?

I think we need a category for that. Like "counselors to ex-presidents" or "former counselors".

Paris Dennard was Director of Black Outreach in 2008 for Bush. Not sure if that qualifies. Part of his job was choosing films for Bush to watch. ScratchMarshall (talk) 04:01, 16 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

ScratchMarshall, if you have the information, which person was a "counselor to the president", be bold and create Category:Former counselors to the president Description: Persons, that held the office "Counselor to the president". If someone wants to delete it, I would see and probably vote against. Let it be subcategory to Category:Counselors to the President. CN1 (talk) 20:27, 11 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Why would there need to be a separate category for former officeholders rather than one combined category like Category:Presidents of the United States? 142.160.131.202 (talk) 05:12, 13 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]
There's no need to distinguish between "current presidents" and "former presidents" since there is only ever 1 current president. Counselors on the other hand, are many, so it is useful to distinguish between those who are presently counselors to the current president and those who counseled previous ones. Ideally the master category ought to be named Category:Counselors to Presidents. Also we should have categories for non-American counselors too.
