Category talk:Members of Congress who became lobbyists
Congress lobbyists category
[edit]I have started this new category of Members of Congress who became lobbyists after leaving office. The source for the people added is any former member of Congress who registered to lobby under the federal lobbying disclosure act after leaving office. The list is publicly available at OpenSecrets.org and through direct review of the lobbying disclosures themselves. After completing the list, the individual pages should also be updated to include the individual lobbying affiliation. I plan to do this but interested editors could begin this work.
Of note, I do not include in this category people who were lobbyists before being elected to Congress, or people who worked at law and lobbying firms after leaving office but did not officially register as lobbyists. This is the cleanest and most accurate way to maintain this list, and would be consistent with what is typically of public interest on the topic. I would not object if other editors want to take a more expansive approach and add to the list those others.
The topic of the “revolving door” and members of Congress who leave office and become lobbyists in Washington, DC is a frequently discussed topic and worthy of its own list, so long as it is verifiable and based upon publicly available lobbying registration information.
