Untitled[edit]

I've created this category because of a need for a catch-all grouping for the tribes, clans, kingdoms, principalities, folk-groups etc of Anglo-Saxon England, as the shortage of written records makes distinguishing between the status of such groups difficult. Category:Anglo-Saxon people really belongs to individuals, not groups, and the only other category that seems to be used is Category:Petty kingdoms of England, which isn't very specific to historical eras (though in practice there are few candidates outside the Anglo-Saxon era) and also really assumes that the groups had kings, which isn't necessarily true of, for example, the Tomsaete. I've called it Peoples of Anglo-Saxon England rather than Anglo-Saxon Peoples as it has been suggested by some sources that for example the Pecsaete were ethnically British/Celtic rather than Anglo-Saxon.
