The Cayuga County Sheriff's Office is the primary law enforcement agency in Cayuga County, New York. This jurisdiction covers 700 square miles (1,800 km2) and encompasses 82,000 residents, 23 towns, and 9 villages. The Cayuga County Sheriff's Office was formed in 1799 when the County of Cayuga was set apart from Onondaga County, New York. Today the Cayuga County Sheriff's Office is made up of about 170 employees in the Law Enforcement, Custody and Civil bureaus, and is located at 7445 County House Road.
