The Central Bureau of Investigation and Statistics (Diaocha Tongji; Chinese: 中國國民黨中央執行委員會調查統計局) was an espionage unit of the Central Executive Committee, and one of Chiang Kai-shek's two secret police and espionage bodies, the other being the Military Bureau of Investigation and Statistics was headed by Tai Li from 1929 until his death in 1946. On March 20, 1928 Chen Lifu became head of the Kuomindang's Organization Department and set up the espionage unit.
