Centre for Cellular and Molecular Platforms (C-CAMP) is an initiative of Department of Biotechnology to develop tools that could be used by researchers from the industry and from public institutions.[1] C-CAMP is one of the member of Bangalore Bio-Cluster, along with two other organizations, the National Centre for Biological Sciences (NCBS) and the Institute for Stem Cell Biology and Regenerative Medicine (inStem).[2]

Research and Development

C-CAMP is envisioned to be a major platform technology, industry-interaction and incubator unit. C-CAMP act as the provider and developer of high-end technologies in life sciences to play the essential role of an enabler of scientific activity and entrepreneurship in the Indian scientific scenario. Considering the vacuum that is present at the interface of academia and industry, such an organization is much needed in the country to be able to assure the success of scientific talent, both in academia and industry. C-CAMP allows investigators to use techniques as tools and not be limited by technological barriers while pursuing challenging scientific questions.

Technologies and Services

The mandate is to provide high-end platform technologies and expertise to all the academic and industrial scientific researchers in and around India. These technology platforms could include:

  • Confocal and Fluorescence Microscopy facility
  • Flow Cytometry
  • Molecular Characterization and Proteomics Facility
  • Next Generation Genomics - Sequencing and Bioinformatics
  • Protein Technology Core
  • High Throughput Screening
  • Transgenic Fly Facility
  • Intellectual Property Management Office and Technology Transfer Office
  • Innovation Accelerator
