The Centre for Process Innovation (CPI) is a science and technology innovation centre based in Wilton, Cleveland, United Kingdom. Established in 2003 by the UK Government agency, ONE NorthEast, the company was one of five centres of excellence in a long term strategy to "reposition the North-East [of England] on the world stage for research and development".[1]
Facilities
The company currently operates five facilities across the Tyne and Wear area:
- National Industrial Biotechnology Facility
- National Printable Electronics Centre
- National Biologics Manufacturing Centre
- National Formulation Centre
Four further facilities were announced in 2014:
- Biologics Factory of the Future[2]
- National Horizon Centre[3]
- Graphene Applications Innovation Centre[4]
High Value Manufacturing Catapult
In 2011, CPI was announced as part of the UK Government's Catapult centres network.[5]
