Centropagidae is a family of copepods.[2] Its members are particularly common as plankton in coastal waters and in fresh water in Australia and southern South America. They are also found on subantarctic islands and in lakes in Antarctica.[3]
Genera
There are 13 genera included in the Centropagidae,[4] including nearly 150 species.
- Boeckella De Guerne & Richard, 1889 — 53 species, freshwater [5]
- Calamoecia Brady, 1906 — 20 species, freshwater [6]
- Centropages Krøyer, 1849 — 34 species, marine [7]
- Dussartopages Huys, 2009 — 1 species, marine [8]
- Gippslandia Bayly & Arnott, 1969 — 1 species, marine [9]
- Gladioferens Henry, 1919 — marine [10]
- Guernella Giesbrecht in G & Schmeil, 1898 — 1 species, marine [11]
- Hemiboeckella G. O. Sars, 1912 — 3 species, freshwater [12]
- Isias Boeck, 1865 — 5 species, marine [13]
- Limnocalanus G. O. Sars, 1863 — marine / brackish /freshwater [14]
- Neoboeckella Bayly, 1992 — 2 species, marine [15]
- Osphranticum Forbes, 1882 — 2 species, marine [16]
- Sinocalanus Burckhardt, 1913 — marine / brackish water [17]
A fourteenth genus, Karukinka, was erected in 2002,[18] but is apparently an offshoot of Boeckella poppei.[19]
