Chamogarh is a village 15 km from Gilgit city, in Gilgit-Baltistan. The word Chamogarh is derived from a woman`s name Chamo, who was the head of Chamogarh before the independence of Gilgit-Baltistan. Danyor Alam bridge road crosses Chamogarh, it also connects it to Jalalabad, Danyor, Oshkhindass and Alam bridge . In the west it is connected to the village of Harating, Jalalabad, Gilgit City, Hunza and Khunjerab[disambiguation needed] top to China. Chamogarh has an intervening width of mountainous terrain.

Sheikh family

The Sheikh family is the biggest family in population. They migrated from Kohistan (saikot) and this family lives in Bagh Mohallah. MatqUllah (late) is the father of Mushraft ullah, sharif Muhammad,Abdul Majeed (incumbent lambardar) , Abdul Hameed, Mansoor Ahmad. The khasu family which is called patonz in local language ,who migrated from pattan Kohistan, are also educated people. According to Khasu family, these people migrated from Swat to pattan Kohistan. Languages

There are more than three languages spoken in Chamogarh. The majority of the population speak Kohistani. Pashtu is also spoken there.

Schools

The people of Chamogarh are very active in education. There are more than five educational institutions are working in Chamogarh.F.G boys Middle school, F.G girls school, Mehboob Academy and Iqra School. More than seven hundred students are getting their education in these institutions.

Agriculture

Agriculture is also the livelihood of the people of Chamogarh. Wheat and maize are grown abundantly. The fertile land of Chamogarh is also rich in fruits like grapes, almond, apricot, amluk, meetha, pomegranate and apples.

Chamogarh is a small village but this small village has produced well talent in the form of government officers in the army and Gilgit-Baltistan administration.
