Charlie Carver (born Charles Carver Martensen [1] July 31, 1988) is an American actor known for his role as Porter Scavo in the ABC television series Desperate Housewives.[2] He was also well known for his role on Teen Wolf as Ethan, along with his brother Max Carver who played Aiden. They both now currently star on the new HBO series The Leftovers.

Early life

Charlie Carver was born July 31, 1988 in San Francisco, California. Before he began acting professionally, he was known as Charlie Martensen. Carver’s father, Robert Martensen, was an author and medical researcher in history at the National Institutes of Health and his mother, Anne Carver is a philanthropist and community activist. In 1992, Anne Carver and her new husband, Denis Sutro, moved the family to Calistoga in California’s Napa Valley. His twin brother is actor Max Carver. Charlie and his identical twin brother Max have different birthdays; Charlie was born on July 31, and Max was born seven minutes later on August 1. He attended High School at St. Paul’s Boarding School in Concord, New Hampshire, but left to attend Interlochen Arts Academy, Michigan, in his sophomore year. He also studied acting at The American Conservatory Theater in San Francisco.

Career

Carver made his acting debut as an eighth-grader when he played Puck, the fairy trickster, in his school’s production of Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night's Dream. But his well-known acting debut was with his twin brother, Max, in the ABC hit television series, Desperate Housewives. They played Porter and Preston Scavo, sons to Felicity Huffman and Doug Savant.

Along with Max, Charlie appeared in Season 3 of MTV's Teen Wolf as a pair of twin werewolves - Charlie plays Ethan, a gay teenager, and Max played the hot-headed Aiden. The Carver twins now both star on the new HBO series The Leftovers.
