Charles Joseph "Charlie" McDonnell[1] (born October 1, 1990, also known as charlieissocoollike) is an English teenager and YouTube vlogger from Bath, Somerset.[2]

He first came to prominence when a video entitled "How To Get Featured on Youtube" was featured on YouTube's homepage. Prior to this he had fewer than 150 subscribers, but this number increased dramatically within the next eight months, and as of August 2008, Charlie has over 70,000 subscribers. He has since posted a large range of videos on the site, including "How to be English,"[3] and "HAIR!."

In addition to vlogging, he has also been known to play songs and draw comedic sketches. He recently formed a Trock (Time Lord Rock) band.

Since January 2008, he has been a member of "Five Awesome Guys", a YouTube collaboration channel. This was created by McDonnell as a spinoff of "Five Awesome Girls", another YouTube collaboration channel with five different girls posting videos on each of the weekdays. Charlie posts a video every other Tuesday on the Five Awesome Guys channel. He is also a member of "Nerdfighters" - the followers of Vloggers John and Hank Green. He has a large fan base with the American teen audience, many of whom are girls. Many of these girls also see Charlie as their favorite member of "Five Awesome Guys". In 2008, he also appeared on two episodes of Lily Allen and Friends on BBC3.

McDonnell has a younger brother named William McDonnell who has his own YouTube channel, WellWillWill. He is very fond of Ugly Betty and Doctor Who. He also has a younger sister, who has appeared in a few videos on his channel.
