"Charlie Walk" is an American music executive and entrepreneur. Currently, he is the Executive Vice President of Republic Records, a division of Universal Music Group. He previously served as President of Epic Records, a division of Sony Music from 2005 until 2008. He also remains non-executive Chairman of JWALK, the advertising and marketing firm on Madison Avenue.[1]

Early Life

While attending Boston University's School of Management, Walk began pursuing a career in music. He worked as College Marketing Representative for Sony Music in Boston and interned at KISS 108.

Columbia Records

In1990, Walk took on a full-time position at Columbia Records, a division of Sony Music, as aMarketing and Promotion Manager. He became Executive Vice President, CreativeMarketing and Promotion in 1999. [3]Whileat Columbia, he worked directly with artists including Aerosmith, Beyoncé, Billy Joel, Bruce Springsteen, Destiny's Child, The Fugees, John Legend, John Mayer, Lauryn Hill, Mariah Carey, Maxwell, Will Smith, and Wyclef Jean. 

Epic Records

In late 2005, Don Ienner appointed Walk President of Epic Records. According to Nielsen SoundScan.The label’s market share experienced a downfall from 4.22% of current albums for the year ending in 2005 to 1.58% for the end of 2008. Walk was ousted at the end of December 2008.

JWALK

At the end of 2008, JWALK, formerly RJW Collective. Co-Founder and Chairman Walk worked with clients including Microsoft, Bing, Lacoste, Equinox, Rubbermaid, Kenneth Cole [18], bebe, VitaCoco, SoulCycle, Cristal Champagne, DeLeón Tequila, and more. [19] [20]

Partnerships

Also in 2009, Walk initiated an exclusive partnership with Endemol USA, a producer of television programming specializing in unscripted and scripted genres for network and cable television. [28] [29]

Republic Records

In 2013, Walk joined Republic Records as its Executive Vice President. [32] [33]

Philanthropy

Walk is involved in multiple charitable organizations. He serves on the Board of Directors at Phoenix House of New York, the prominent non-profit drug and alcohol rehabilitation organization. He also is on the advisory board for ProCamps Worldwide and ProCamps Worldwide Cares, which gives disadvantaged youth, children with special needs, dependent children on active duty military, and "Make-a-Wish" children the opportunity to attend camp through a non-profit organization, Kids2Camp.
