Chertsey is a town in the Ashburton District, of New Zealand's South Island. It is located close to State Highway 1, which bypasses the town to the west, between Ashburton and Rakaia on the Canterbury Plains. According to the 2001 census it had a population of 1920, of which 1044 were male and 876 were female.[1]
