Distribution of the Chestnut-backed Buttonquail

The chestnut-backed buttonquail (Turnix castanotus) is a species of bird in the Turnicidae family. It is endemic to Australia.

Its natural habitats are dry savanna, subtropical or tropical dry shrubland, and subtropical or tropical dry lowland grassland.
