Chimalpahin

Chimalpain Quauhtlehuanitzin (born 1579) was an Aztec noble and historian. He was born in Amecameca (ancient Chalco province) whose formal name was Domingo Francisco de San Anton Muñon.

Of pure Indigenous descent, he received a Spanish education at the Franciscan College of Santiago Tlatelolco of Mexico. He wrote on the history of Mexico and other neighboring nations in the Nahuatl and Spanish languages.

He recorded the 1610 and 1614 visits of Japanese delegations to Mexico (led by Tanaka Shosuke and Hasekura Tsunenaga, respectively) in his diary (Annals of his time).
