Chris Peden is a Friendswood, Texas, City Councilman and served as Mayor Pro Tem. Peden was elected to the Friendswood City Council in 2005, receiving over 67% of the vote. One year after he was elected to City Council, Peden was elected Mayor Pro Tem by his fellow council members.

Peden was a Republican candidate for U.S. Congress in Texas's 14th congressional district but lost to incumbent Ron Paul in the Republican primary on March 4, 2008.[1] He received endorsements from two local newspapers; Victoria Advocate and Galveston Daily News.[2]

Although Ron Paul had a larger national source of funding for his Congressional campaign, Peden claimed to have raised more money from within the district. However, according to the Peden campaign's finance filings, the majority of contributions and loans to his campaign from Texas District 14 came from within his own family or from loans to himself.[3]
