"Circles" on YouTube |
"Circles" is a song by American rapper Post Malone, released through Republic Records on August 30, 2019,[2] as the third single from Malone's third album Hollywood's Bleeding.[3] The music video was released on September 3, 2019.[4]
Critical reception
Billboard described the song as being "backed by sunny acoustic guitars, swirling percussion and infectious melodies",[5] and that while it has a "funky feel, the meaning is a bit more somber, detailing a relationship gone cold".[2]
Music video
The music video, directed by Colin Tilley, was released on September 3, 2019. It is medieval-themed and features Post Malone being killed by a group of zombies, rising from a grave and visiting a love interest at a castle, where she lets down her hair for him to climb up; the latter scene was likened to the tale of Rapunzel.[6]
Promotion
Post Malone premiered the song live during his Bud Light Dive Bar Tour show in New York City on August 5, where he claimed it would be released the following week.[7] A snippet of the track was posted to Malone's YouTube channel the same day.[3] He previewed the song in August 2019 on the Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.[8]
