Claude Buffet (19 May 1933 – 28 November 1972) was a French criminal who was executed along with his accomplice, Roger Bontems (born 20 September 1936), on 28 November 1972 by guillotine at La Santé Prison, aged 39 years. Both men had been convicted of the murders of Guy Girardot (prison warder) and Nicole Comte (prison nurse) in 1971 [not true; Roger Bontems was not [citation needed] accused or convicted of either of the murders, but was sentenced to death anyway], whom they had taken hostage while Buffet was already serving a life sentence in Clairvaux Prison. Robert Badinter was their defence lawyer.
