Cocconeis is a genus of diatoms. Members of the genus are elliptically shaped diatoms.

Cladophora is frequently covered with Cocconeis. Individuals of Antarctic minke whales are often found with orange-brown to yellowish patches of Cocconeis ceticola on their bodies.
